Camera work is the focus of this project. Proper exposure and focus using manual settings. I like to challenge myself to make the best possible work from simple tools. Shot with a Nikon D3300, a 35mm prime lense, and a tripod using walkable locations from my apartment in Montford, Asheville, NC. Stop motion effects were created in post-production. The film was produced under quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic. Spring 2020.

This piece was intended to be part of a group installation at the Asheville Art Museum for a fundraiser. Augmented reality was planned to be used in the galleries and based on the current exhibits. I chose to base my works on the photographs of Barbara Morgan who has taken many iconographic photos of Martha Graham. The event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Spring 2020.

This focus of this project was editing and attempting a basic narrative. I’ve always been fascinated with how we use chimpanzees to test environments for humans. A Chimp was the first ‘person’ in space. Our brains are very much like theirs and that is why we use them in experiments. All primates share a basic physiological structure. So this video is about a primate having it’s mind blown. Where is the bridge between us and them?

A stop motion I made as an experimental animation. I was inspired by the work of Saul Bass to make a cutout character which would come to life using few materials. The character, Black Metal Cat, was hand animated frame by frame on a green screen. I set up a home animation studio on my desk with construction paper for the green screen and shot images one frame at a time. Pre-apocolypse, Winter 2019
